To see if your TV supports the Spotify app, go to the app store on your TV and search for Spotify. If your TV isn't listed, you can upgrade it with a soundbar or streamer that supports Spotify Connect. For more info on the types of devices Spotify is available on, check out Spotify Everywhere. Play directly from the TV app. Spotify uses a freemium model, offering a basic service free of charge while enticing customers to upgrade to a paid subscription plan that includes mobile applications and advertising free stream. Spotify is available for multiple platforms including Windows, OS X and Linux as well as iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone. The latest addition to its features is that the Spotify application is back to the Roku channel store and you will now be able to play songs from that, edit the playlists. Here is how you install. If you try to skip forward to the next song, it shows the next song on screen, but it won't start playing it. If you try to go to a different playlist, you only get the 'loading' screen with spinning wheel. The only way to get it going again is to exit the Spotify app and re-open it. I have removed and reloaded the app on my Roku, but no difference.
Please search 'Spotify' on the Roku Store to find Spotify app and select the 'Add channel' option to install Spotify on Roku. Now you can open Spotify app and start to discover favorite songs you'd like to play on Roku. Also, you can choose the 'Playlist' option to view created playlists and play them on Roku. Can't play Spotify. If you have any issues with the app, these steps can fix it: Restart the Spotify app. Log out and back in. Make sure the app is up-to-date. Check it’s not in Offline mode in settings. Close any other apps you’re not using. Reinstall the app. Check @SpotifyStatus for any ongoing issues. I’m not sure if it’s just my roku tv or not but or not, but on one of the apps (lifetime to be specific). When the ad’s play the volume is way louder than the program it’s self and it’s rather irritating to mute the ad’s every time because of how loud they play.
Note: Some cars require Spotify Premium.
If the Spotify app on your car’s media system isn’t working, try these steps:
- Make sure your car’s connected to the internet.
- Use another app on your car's media system to check the internet connection is strong enough.
- Restart the app.
- Restart your car (by turning the ignition off then on again).
- If possible, delete the Spotify app then reinstall it.
If that didn’t work:
- Check your car’s media system for any updates to the Spotify app.
- Check with your car's stereo manufacturer for any updates to the firmware/operating system.
If the problem persists, reach out to your car/stereo manufacturer for further help.
If your Bluetooth connection isn't working:
- Make sure your device has sufficient power.
- Check the software for both devices is up-to-date. If you don't know, check with your devices' manufacturer for how to check and update the software version.
Note: To update your car’s media system, you may need to reach out to your car’s manufacturer. - Try turning Bluetooth off on other nearby Bluetooth devices you aren’t currently using.
Note: Most Bluetooth audio devices can’t connect to multiple source devices at a time. Be sure to disconnect any current connections to use it with another device. - Try closing the Spotify app on your device while establishing the connection.
Once you’ve checked the above, try restarting the connection:
- Turn off the Bluetooth on your car’s media system.
- With the Bluetooth settings on your mobile/tablet switched on, delete the information of the car.
Tip: The setting to delete is often called ‘forget’. - Turn Bluetooth off and back on for your mobile/tablet.
- Turn the Bluetooth on your car’s media system back on.
- Allow approximately 20 seconds for your mobile/tablet to detect your car. Once it appears, select it to pair.
- Open Spotify and play something. The sound should now come from your speaker.
Didn't work?
You may need to set your car as a default device or allow media sharing. Try looking for those options in the Bluetooth settings of the device you’re playing from.
If the problem persists, check out the support site for your devices’ manufacturers.
If your aux or USB cable isn't working, make sure it's the correct cable for your device. Even if it is, it's worth trying a different one in case it's damaged.
If you’re connecting via USB cable, make sure your car’s media system is updated to the latest firmware version.
